Surah Al-A'raf (Arabic: سورة الأعراف, meaning "high place") is the seventh book of the Muslim religious book, the Qur'an , with 206 verses and 24 ruku's. This Surah was revealed in Makkah . The central theme of this Surah is the call to believe in the Prophethood. In verses 46 and 48 of this surah (in the fifth verse) the Araf or the Surah Al-Alaq is the 96th surah of the Holy Quran and was the first to be revealed. It was revealed in Makkah when Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was in the cave Hira. The surah is divided into two parts: the first part consists of the first 5 verses, and the second part consists of verses 6-19. Key Facts Surah al-An'am is the 6th sura of Qur'an comprising 165 verses, revealed in Mecca, and was known by this name throughout the lifetime of the Prophet (saw). (Ibn Ashur, al-Tahreer wa al-Tanweer, Vol. 7, p. 121) The date of revelation is differed upon, but there is agreement it was around year 5 and year 10 of revelation. Surah al-A'ala (The Most High) There are 19 verses in this surah and it was revealed in Makkah. It is narrated that the reciter of this surah will get the reward equal to ten times the number of letters in the divine books that were revealed to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and Prophet Musa (a.s.).
